Even with all the new wedges, platform heels, stilettos, and high-heeled boots appearing in the Spring/Summer collections, we cannot neglect the array of espadrilles, sandals, and adorable sneakers that accompany the others.
You can wear heels almost anywhere, and flip-flops have their time and place, but here is your list of seriously cute summer flats for 2014, ranked by occasion. Of course, feel free to break the rules.
 Outdoor concert: Closed-toe shoes are important here because your toes will get stepped on!
 Shopping in the city: We love gladiator sandals for this. Make them bold this time.
 Farmer’s market: Presumably, this would occur in a rather dusty, grassy area. That’s why we give you boots, so as not to ruin your feet or your sweet canvas sneakers.
 Cocktail party at 5: Simple, pretty flats with an edge. Better than the boring nude wedges you thought you’d wear.
 Coffee date at 2: You don’t want to be distracted by taking an extra risk you’re not comfortable with, instead you want to be paying attention to your date. Sandals are easy whether you decide on shorts, a dress, or jeans. At least your shoes are taken care of.
