New York based designer, Cynthia Rowley debuted quite the exciting line for her Resort 2015 collection. Along with showing her fair share of structured pants, skirts, and fun dresses, the designer opted to incorporate some super casual active wear and swimwear into the mix. For the debut of her collection, and to play up the active feel of the line, Rowley chose to set up at S10 Training, a gym in downtown Manhattan.
Rowley told Women’s Wear Daily that: “Resort is kind of my favorite season” because she “loves the real-life mix of adventure, travel and style.” The 55-year old designer definitely catered to adventure in her collection. Rowley succeeded in designing a line that included pieces that could be worn from the gym straight to late night cocktails.

On active wear, she points out: “You see people mindlessly putting on their black or grey leggings with sneakers, and they don’t really think ‘Can these be prettier?’” The designer showed just how pretty – and versatile — leggings can be. The line featured a pair of leggings in pink, adorned with white flowers that could be thrown on for a work out class, but also dressed up with the right shoes and accessories for night-time looks.

Luckily, the designer assures skeptics that: the “workout gear is totally washable and indestructible.” She admits: “I actually tried to bleach a piece to make it lighter and it wouldn’t bleach.” Sounds durable!
Also included were more bright colored wet suits. Mixed throughout the fun workout attire and swimwear were sophisticated, embroidered looks, including a red lace pencil skirt and shirt, some structured white pants, and a simple blue cocktail dress.
Rowley explains the mixing of active wear with more serious pieces. There was a “mini collection of actual athletic wear, and then around it there are these special and embroidered pieces. To me, the interesting, cool thing is that you can mix that.”
