The full trailer for the highly anticipated film “Dear White People” has been released. This is the directorial debut for Justin Simien’s film, who used social media to gain attention and awareness on making what was once a dream into a reality.
The film won for U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
The film satirically explores racial identity in this so-called ‘post-racial society’ while showcasing how characters in the film explore coming into their own identity. The trailer shows hints of this and more with their thought-provoking quotes, statements and questions.
The film is filled with stars and actors with a lot of potential like: Teyonah Parris, Tyler Williams, Tessa Thompson, and Brandon Bell. It also is produced by Effie T. Brown, Julia Lebedev, Angel Lopez, Ann Le and Lena Waithe. The executive producers, Stephanie Allain and Leonid Lebedev star in the film as well.
