Did Glamour’s Plus-Size Issue Go Too Far?

What Is A Plus – Size? The complex and confusing definitions of body types should be irrelevant. Why does Glamour Magazine need a Plus-Size Issue anyway? Did they really need to go out of their way and point out all the rich and famous who weigh a certain amount instead of going by their accomplishments? But instead sneak around it and go about it without anyones knowledge.

Sports Illistrated did have a “Plus-Size” model in their magazine.  They went about it with everyone’s knowledge and the world was prepared. They did not just surprise the model and the world by going “here you go and thank you for buying our magazines.”

To be blunt, Glamour Magazine did not even ask if it was ok to add some of these ladies and well, some did not take it too well. Amy Schumer was very hot under the collar of her size 6 to 8 clothing. Glamour stated in and all over the magazine that anyone a size 12 and up was considered “Plus-Size”.

Now, Amy has gone to her social network to spread her concerns about why she was upset about being placed in a predicament without even being asked. Schumer stated that “I think there’s nothing wrong with being plus size. Beautiful healthy women. Plus size is considered size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and an 8. @glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me. Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts? Mine are not cool glamour not glamourous.”

She is not the only one that was and has been shamed by being considered a “Plus-Size” Iskra Lawrence, whom has also had to go to the battle of the words on Instagram because of mean haters calling her a “fat cow.”

Look, here is the deal should there even be a label of plus size? Also, should it only be in the modeling world and out of the realm of the real world that a plus size even exists. The size of the someones waist should not even be a point, to be frank. That even in the celebrity world or modeling world that body shaming needs to stop. That even to think that someone that is a size 12 is to be considered plus-size.

We are humans and for a magazine to place someone that is a size 6-8 and say that they are a ” Plus-Size” is an issue that young women and men might misunderstand. That now all of a sudden that a magazine is now turning into a health care provider and know what is best for every single person that they know what is the correct BMI for someone due to how tall they are is truly wild to say the least and very sad.

That being labeled by these size issues needs to stop and that it should not be included with fashion. We all know that fashion can be made to the size that fits you and that means any size and does need matter what shape or how much you weigh. It is no ones business but yours and yours alone.

It is time that we, as men and women, take control over allowing others to say what is beautiful and what is not and what is healthy is what is not. It is time to not believe in the hype and not play into it.

That instead we think about what Schumer said in her Instagram post as she flies a kite in a two piece. She stated this “Thanks for your thoughts to the people who didn’t tell me how I “should feel” Bottom line seems to be that these labels are unnecessary and reserved for women #muchlove”

So everyone go get a kite and that yellow polka dot bikini or those super fly trunks that you have always been wanting to wear and put them on. Do not be afraid what you have and let the sun shine down on like you deserve!
