DKMS Hosts World Blood Cancer Day Event

With DKMS’s World Blood Cancer Day is only a day away, and they’re encouraging their supporters to help them make a difference and spread the word of their cause.

DKMS, short for Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei, as it was founded in Germany, stands for Bone Marrow Donor. It was founded by Peter Harf whose wife suffered from blood cancer, and struggled to find a donor. Harf works tirelessly to help others find the donor they need that could potentially save their life.

World Blood Cancer Day is May 28th this year, and the DKMS twitter is encouraging people to “Put a mark on the world!” The hope is that by sharing the cause and helping people to get involved and donate to help others.

The event is to be held in Washington Square Park in New York City. There will be registration for people to sign up to give bone marrow to those in need, and learn more about what donating can do for people.

If you’re not in the New York area, Deletebloodcancer.org offers an alternative online sign up, and encourages others to spread the word about the event.

Less than three weeks ago, The 2014 Delete Blood Cancer Gala was held at Cipriani Wall Street and raised over $4 million. The company and its supporters are still working hard to raise money and spread awareness.

The upcoming event will, “be filed with many expressions of support from art competitions to inspirational social media efforts all focused on elevating information and dispelling misconceptions about what all of us can do to ‘delete blood cancer’”.

If you are in the New York are, the event runs from 2pm-6pm, so go out to support the cause and help #Deletebloodcancer.
