Finding the Golden Treasures in Thrift Shopping

“To be my girl, you don’t have to be cool to rule my world! Well you don’t have to be Prince either so we are cool.”

I clearly started off with the song lyrics because; A: It’s 8:00 a.m. and B: Reread the title. So, now you are smiling and perhaps think I am funny, which I hope. But before we proceed, I would really love if you can take me seriously, because what I am about to share is gold!

For Fall, the fashion has concentrated on elements such as: Leather, tassel, unisex, oversized, prints, exaggerated geometrical cuts and earthy colors. While to some, we can only admire our favorite designers runway, and to buy them would be tough but it’s not impossible to get them. And I am not discussing, online luxury shopping for a discounted price. I am talking about vintage stores, your style and the reinvention of your favorite piece.

Whether you live on the East, West or any angle of the United States, even the world, you will stumble across vintage stores. You have probably heard all about vintage stores stories and might just scroll away, which is normal but if you don’t, I advise you to wear your most comfortable shoes and head to East Village in Manhattan or Melrose St. in Los Angeles. Avoid pop-up vintage stores because they tend to be pricey and the whole purpose is to save money. Search for vintage stores that have a messy window display or not even one, just clothes hanging, and the bigger the store is the better and always ask for the sale rack. You will definitely need patience to tag along, because you will be jumping into a pile of decades.
