Popular period drama, ‘Downton Abbey’ has been renewed for a sixth season. The Crawleys will be returning for more family drama, triumphs and possible tragedies, if past seasons are anything to go by. The series’ fifth season is currently airing in the U.K. and will air in the U.S. on PBS Masterpiece Classic in January.
The production for next season is set to start next year, so fans will be happy to know that the sixth season won’t be too far away after season five ends. Gareth Neame, the executive producer for the series said in a statement, “We have had an amazing reaction to the story lines, acting and production values of ‘Downton Abbey’ this year and the whole team is thrilled to be moving ahead with a new season of the show.”
