Tagged #perturbedwonderful Dsquared2 offered something not usually offered on the runway, lunatic glamour. For the glamour girl in all of us, Dsquared2 offered us crazy girl couture. The scene was “Girl, Interrupted” with our heroine in a psych ward dressed in a feathered cape, a satin mini dress, and satin gloves. Her nurses were not far behind as they followed her everywhere in white leather capes and cloches adorned with a bow. Not only were the nurses included in the show, in different white outfits, the wardens were also in satin champagne dresses, with an extra accessory on their hip, keys. Some over the top jewels accompanied some pieces in Dsquared2’s insane fall 2014 collection along with some very memorable accessories.

As crazy as it sounds, Dsquared2’s show ran in reverse, beginning with gussied-up evening wear and ending with lingerie. Sparkles, jewel tones, capes, and python are a few words that one would use to describe this unique collection. Within this collection you find pieces that are not even considered to be on the same spectrum, but Dean and Dan Caten dared to put this puzzle together. You found a floor length emerald green cape adorned with feathers atop a floor length embellished black gown on the same runway as a blue python dress and a green python miniskirt suit, in the same collection as satin lingerie. Breaking the rules is an understatement, testing how far they can take their craziness is more like it. Dean and Dan also redefined “arm candy” embellishing shackles and also turning neck collars into couture chokers. With the soundtrack of the show containing the musings of infamous crazy ladies, Dsquared2 took us from the runway to the couture mad house. No one has ever dared to try, because they were never crazy enough to.
