From watching season after season of the duck commander family on Duck Dynasty, we know a few things for sure: they are not afraid to say what is on their mind, they have their own lingo and make their own fun, and they are strong in their beliefs. To them, the reality show comes in second to everything else. In January, the head of the clan, Phil Robertson was put on hiatus by A&E after making racist and homophobic comments in an issue of GQ. Unsure if his fate on the show would sit well with viewers, A&E threatened to suspend him from the remainder of filming. The family released a statement saying they wouldn’t go forward without him. Family is before TV.
Phil Robertson seems to care about the fate of the show the least, as the warning from A&E did not scare him. His beliefs on gay marriage remain the same and his mouth remains running.
Phil explains his comments in his latest Easter Sunday sermon at his hometown church, Whites Road Ferry Church. He claims that the news media were upset, because “instead of acknowledging their sin, like they better do, they railed against me for giving them the truth about their sins.”
He went on to quote verses from the Bible, laughing that news media outlets did not even know that what he was saying were direct quotes, not him mouthing off.
After the issue of GQ was released, A&E was forced to do damage control. Realizing that their ratings would decrease immensely if they can celled the show, they were at the Robertson’s mercy. The company started to air equality commercials, enforcing the idea that they as a company did not share the same beliefs as the christian family.
Season 6 of Duck Dynasty is set to air June 11 at 10 P.M. No comment has been made by A&E about the sermon.

What do you think: Should he have been removed from the show, or should A&E cancel it all-together?
