‘Counting On,’ featuring members of the Duggar family who did not molest their siblings, recently aired an after show episode. The episode discussed the life of the older Duggar couples and reviewed clips from the previous seasons.
The family watched an old clip of how Austin and Joy-Anna Duggar got engaged. The young romantic tried his best to keep the event a surprise hiding and camouflaging the film crew to give her the best “private” proposal she wanted. Austin built a table by hand for some type of romantic picnic in the woods. Upon her arrival, he blindfolded Joy-Anna got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The whole event was adorable and showed how much he knew about his beloved and how thoughtful he could be. Of course she said “yes” after getting her hair out of her eyes to see what he had planned.
A clip of Joseph Duggar asking his now fiancé Kendra’s father for her hand in marriage was also shown. The father-in-law to be was working on Joseph’s truck at the time and remained almost silent during the course of the conversation. We found out that he was just listening and happily said yes with a huge smile on his face before shaking Joseph’s hand. Kendra’s father is also the Duggar family’s pastor.
During the after show episode the couples also played a game testing how well they knew one another. They were asked a variety of questions and wrote their answers on separate white boards. Of course, hilarity ensued. Ben Seewald, who is married to Jessa Duggar, revealed how grossed out he gets while cleaning out his wife’s hair from the shower’s drain. All of the Duggar women apparently like to hog the space on the bed. Who could blame them? There is nothing like stretching out after a long day.
Not all of the Duggars are as well liked as these adorable couples. Josh Duggar, the family’ oldest boy, molested his sisters while they were asleep. Jim Bob commented on the sexual assault and said, “There was another incident… two different incidents where girls were laying on the couch and he had touched over the couch and he had touched their breasts while they were asleep.” He made sure to quickly minimize what his daughters went through adding, “over the clothes,” after his wife Michelle nudged him. He tried to comfort the viewers in such a grotesque fashion stating, “A lot of families since said that they’ve had similar things happen in their families,” and, “A lot of other families’ stories were even worse.”
In a book written by the women in the Duggar they discuss the reason that they like to dress modestly. The book says, “We do not dress modestly because we are ashamed of the body God has given us; quite the contrary. We realize that our body is a special gift from God and that He intends for it to be shared only with our future husband.” The book continues, “We avoid low-cut, cleavage-showing, gaping, or bare-shouldered tops; and when needed, we wear an undershirt. We try to make it a habit to always cover the top of our shirt with our hand when we bend over. We don’t want to play the peekaboo game with our neckline.”
Jessa Seewald, who was molested by Josh Duggar said, “I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist.” She continued, “I’m like, that is so overboard and a lie, really.” She added, “I mean people get mad at me for saying that, but I can say this because I was one of the victims.”
