Diane Von Furstenberg and Net-a-porter are collaborating with Google to make high fashion google glasses. DVF helped launch Glass in 2012, making wearable technology the new rave. The idea of wearing technology has been creating a lot of buzz on social media, but buzz doesn’t pay the bills.

DVF designed optical frame in five colors and sunglasses in four colors for Glass. They will go on sale at Google and Net-A-Porter on June 23. Since the launch of Google Glass, consumers have only been able to gain access to the product through Google’s explorer program. The members, or explorers as they’ve come to be called, were chosen specifically to help assist, shape, and share the new technology. Google hopes that, by partnering with Luxottica, the world’s largest luxury eyewear company, the glasses will not only gain popularity, but will come to be seen as the new wave of fashion.

This partnership is just the beginning of bringing innovative, wearable technology to the online luxury consumer. The combination of  machinery  and style is the future of fashion technology. “It brings multitasking to another level because it actually does not block your sight at all,” Diane von Furstenberg explains to WWD.

Google is looking forward to people flocking to the stores or their computers to buy this new technology/fashion accessory. Time will tell just how successful this new market of fashion becomes.
