When that time of the month comes, Mother Nature decides to give women a gift, one that never really feels like a present, and that present being period cramps. It’s already hard to deal with the other symptoms, but cramps just manage to make us more miserable than we need to be. There are ways; however, to make your cramps more bearable. If you do what’s on this list period cramps will never have power over you the same way again.

1. Drink Water

Water is not only good for moisturizing your skin and hydrating yourself, water has the power to ease and relieve you of your cramps. When drinking water while on your period, you’re not only giving your body what it needs, you’re also minimizing the potential for something that can be extremely debilitating. It’d be best if you drink water prior to being on your period (you should be drinking water 365 days a year and 24/7); while also drinking water when you’re on your period.

2. Exercise

You probably cringed when reading this and thought, “How could I possibly exercise when I have cramps?” If you had that train of thought it’s understandable, however it’s true exercise will relieve your cramps. When you exercise you’re increasing the blood flow throughout your body and this helps the cramps disappear. You don’t need to do a full workout but enough exercise to get your blood pumping.

3. Apply Heat

If you haven’t done this before do it now. Grab yourself a heat pad or anything warm and can hold heat and press it against your abdomen. When applying heat to muscles they loosen and ease up. This is super helpful because now you don’t need to take 10 hot showers throughout the day. Invest in a heat pack it’ll do wonders for you, if you can’t afford one there are tutorials online on making one.
