He once skated for the U.S. Olympic team and is now joining the Vera Wang fashion house; Evan Lysacek, a retired American figure skater turned designer is named Vera Wang’s creative consultant.
Designer Vera Wang and Lysacek have much in common, as five years ago Wang designed the Olympic attire for American skaters and Lysacek had retired his skates just last fall. Not only that, but Wang is actually a good skater herself, accomplishing many awards at junior level.
After leaving the rink, Lysacek moved to New York to work for Charter Realty & Development. According to the company’s website, he had organized two national and one worldwide tour with “Smucker’s Stars on Ice” and worked with company sponsors such as Ralph Lauren, Procter & Gamble, Crest, Citi, Smuckers, Coca-Cola and Deloitte. During this time he was also a contestant on the TV show, “Dancing With the Stars”.

The two met at the Vancouver Winter Games, when Wang designed his attire After that Lysacek felt intrigued about Wang’s work and overlooked her finishing touches on one of her spring collections.
“I’ve learned quite a bit through Vera. It’s really interesting to see what goes into a collection. That kind of creativity is extremely important, especially now in a world that is less about money. People can set themselves apart by the clothes they choose to wear. That’s an easy way for us to express ourselves every day,” Lysacek confessed to WWD.
Wang or Lysacek have yet to comment about his new addition to the team, but we are sure he will be a great asset to the team and the beginning of a strong friendship.
