Exercises for Summer: No Gym Required

A little bit of summer sunshine can get — with some discipline and sacrifice — the borderline coach potato back into fighting shape. With some serious commitment, it’s possible to build an awesome body without spending a penny. Popular outdoor fitness legends, like Hannibal, will tell you that you don’t need a gym membership or expensive equipment to look and feel amazing.

Most of us are convinced that we don’t have the time to get in a consistent workout, but I think it’s all about time management; 15 or 20 minutes a day would work wonders for anyone who hasn’t followed a fitness routine lately. Here’s a breakdown of simple exercises a woman can do to get closer to her fitness goals.

Vicky, of YouTube Channel: womensworkoutchannel, has a list of simple but effective workout routines for ladies that, with practice, will firm up those buns and tone your legs.

Bleacher Runs: While not all of us have bleachers that are accessible to us, park steps will do just fine. Ten runs seems like a lot for a beginner, but this is a workout with an emphasis on work.

Bleacher Runs on Metal Seating: According to Vicky, the butt workout is more intense because there’s more space between the metal seating than between each step.

Sprints: Vicky recommends five full-speed sprints from one end to the other, similar to suicides in basketball.

Walking Lunges: With your hands on your hips, you take a full step, then dip low till your knee nearly touches the ground, then raise up and do the same with the other leg. You should cover the same distance you did with the sprints. Tip: Knee pads may be a good investment to consider.

Side-to-Side Shuffle: This might be the easiest part of the workout, but it’s just as important as the rest. It’s crucial that you keep your body low to really workout the muscles in your legs and rear end.

Bunny Hops: This one is self-explanatory; crouch down a bit and hop like a rabbit, putting an emphasis on jumping and landing evenly.

Ice Skaters: They’re similar to the Side to Side Shuffle, but you stay in one place. These blasts the glutes big-time.

That’s all it takes! If you still to some, if not all, of these exercise tactics, your body and mind will be ready for a swimsuit and beach in no time!
