Face It! 90’s Beauty Trends are Back

Many of us are familiar with past styles that we cringe at in pictures today. Loud lipstick and crimped hair are among some of these trends. Still, fashion trends end only to pop up again later, and we find ourselves in the midst of a 90’s style resurgence now.

Deep dark lipstick is back. the word is out if it will last for long. Artists like Madonna and Gwen Stefani set the trend, and it flooded fashion runways and music videos way back when. Now you can catch Lourde, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez sporting vampy lip shades.

French manicures are back with a vengeance, in a way. Ladies that grew up in the 90’s identify with a pink base and white-tipped nail job. Nowadays, a color-blocked design is the way to go. Nonetheless, the old style looks great and is still commonly done.

Headscarves and bandannas are popping up again. One can’t help but think of TLC when a bandanna is matched with knotted braids. You can spot Rihanna, Nicole Richie and Vanessa Hudgens wearing them every now and then.

Who could forget the spring comb? Second only to her bandannas, the spring comb was Melissa Joan Hart’s go-to accessory on Clarissa Explains It All. Emma Watson and Taylor Swift have been photographed wearing prettier variants of the spring comb.

Grunge hair makes a lady look like she’s partied and is on the lookout for an after-party. Nineties trendsetters like Drew Barrymore set the bar for the look, and Pink, Cassie and Heidi Klum have rocked it with flair.

Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Fergie donned glitter makeup throughout the 90’s. The days of dousing yourself in the stuff are gone, a light layer on your eyelids can elevate your look. Just ask Nikki Minaj or Katy Perry.
