Spring brings warmer weather, colorful clothes and beautiful flowers. But it also brings pollen and a slew of allergies. As the weather turns from winter to spring, many will start to feel their noses run and their eyes water. Spring is meant to be a happy time of year, so here are some ways to combat those allergies.
1. Protect yourself
If you know that you’re going to be exposed to allergens during the day, take measures to protect yourself. Clifford W. Bassett, MD, suggests checking the pollen count for certain areas to see if you’re likely to be affected. Other suggestions include wearing a protective mask while doing work outside, wearing sunglasses to help protect your eyes from pollen, and washing your hair at the end of the day to remove excess pollen and reduce the chances of pollen transferring to your pillowcase.
