Browncoats rejoice! Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion will be starring in a series again. The former “Firefly” stars are coming together to create a new web series called “Con Man.” The comedy is very similar to what happened to Tudyk and Fillion when they were on “Firefly.” Their characters were a pilot and captain on a science fiction show that got cancelled too soon. Fillion’s character, Jack Moore, has become a huge star while Tudyk’s character, Wray Nerely, goes from convention to convention signing autographs. Sound familiar? The show will also include big names in the science fiction world like Seth Green, Felicia Day and another “Firefly” co-star Gina Torres. Also, James Gunn, director of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” is going to be involved as well in the series in an acting role. What sci-fi wouldn’t be excited about this upcoming series? Only one problem is that Tudyk and Fillion are not going to a network for funding of the show.
Both Tudyk and Fillion have put money into this project, but for further funding they have started an Indiegogo campaign. The two actors know all too well what can happen if a network gets involved and doesn’t like what is being made, it gets cancelled too soon. The campaign started March 10, 2015 and will go until April 10, 2015. The end goal was to raise $425,000 to be able to create three episodes. However, as of now the campaign has reached to $1,210,864 and with plenty of time to gain more funding. This means that there will be more episodes of “Con Man” made. Since the campaign has already surpassed the initial goal the stretch goal is to reach $1,150,000 to create an entire season and they are pretty close to the their ultimate goal to create the entire series.
