It’s that time of the year when college students get a week away from campus. Spring break is here, and it usually involves lots of parties and maybe some wonderful relation time. If you are more of the introverted type, maybe you don’t want to go out to a lot of parties and would much rather sit out on the porch with a nice hot cup of tea and read a great book. However, you don’t want to start something the size of Les Miserables with over a 1,000 pages; instead, you’re in the market for something a little bit shorter but still beautiful. Here are some books that are perfect to read over your spring break.

“100 Essays I Don’t Have Time to Write: On Umbrellas and Sword Fights, Parades and Dogs, Fire Alarms, Children, and Theater” by Sarah Ruhl. Sarah Ruhl is an American play-wright, and her plays have been translated into different languages and are performed around the world. She started out as a poet, so that can already give you an insight as to how her writing will be. All the essays are very short; they are roughly a page long and some are shorter than that. So if you have a job over spring break, this is a book that you can easily pick up and read. The random essays go over what it is like to be an artist and balancing being a parent and an artist, and is evoked with emotion.
