Five Minutes or Less: The Taylor Swift Cupid’s Bow

With the help of makeup, women everywhere can fake longer, doll-like lashes, wider doe eyes, sculpted, model-like cheekbones and—now—the Taylor Swift Cupid’s Bow. TSwift makes waves not only for her infectiously catchy pop tunes, chaotic love life, and laundry list of celebrity friends, but for her classic red lip and—maybe even more so—her very defined cupid’s bow.

If you want to pull a TSwift and rock a bold red lip, try out Makeup Forever’s Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Burgundy 9C, $19 at Sephora. The deep, brick red hue is a head-turner, and the creamy waterproof formula will withstand any 12-hour day, Chipotle burrito, or lip lock you may encounter throughout the day.

Take the pencil and draw an ‘X’ where your normal cupid’s bow typically rests on your face (or, if yours is rather nonexistent, just do your best to follow where it should be. This will make the bow sharper, more defined, and won’t end up looking as sloppy as if you were to line your lips as usual. From there, connect the outermost points of the ‘X’ with the rest of your top lip (or desired size of your top lip), and just line as normal.

Fill in your lips with either the same liner for a matte, uniform shade, or match it with your favorite lipstick. If the matte liner look is too drying, just add a shiny layer of lipgloss, or even Vaseline, to keep your lips looking—and feeling—supple and hydrated all day long.

Looks like Taylor Swift won’t be the only one with the epic cupid’s bow now that the secret’s out— I guess ‘X’ really does mark the spot.
