FX has officially announced their drama series Tyrant will not be renewed for its fourth season before the premiere of the show’s third season finale.
John Landgraf, the CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, has commented that the show could never pick up a dedicated viewership audience and assumes that the show was difficult for viewers to find common ground with people they possibly do not know or understand.
Landgraf also commented that the creators of Tyrant have done a great job in telling three seasons worth of gripping human stories that are coursing throughout the Middle East today. He also stated that he wants to thank Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser, and the Tyrant writers, directors, cast, crew, and the show’s studio partners Fox 21 Television Studios, for taking Tyrant’s ambitious story and presenting it to their viewers with a lot of dedication and respect.
Bert Salke, the President of Fox 21 Television Studios, has also commented that Tyrant was a beloved show for all his employees at Fox 21 Television Studios. He also commented that John Landgraf and everyone at FX has been fantastic in their support for the show.
Salke most importantly stated that he feels Tyrant is a rare gem in the TV industry and he would love to find a way to keep the show in production somehow. The Fox 21 President commented that they will be realistic about its potential prospects. He also commented toward the loyal fans of Tyrant that during the third season finale episode, he hopes they will be satisfied with the ending to the series if the show cannot find another home. Bert Salke also claimed that the fans should see the show’s cancellation as an interesting prospect for the show, instead of bad news, because the series might find a better-suited platform for its content.
The third season finale of Tyrant airs tonight on September 7th at 10pm on FX.
