The first trailer for the next movie in ‘The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay: Part One’ is incredibly creepy. Fans say that the preview ‘hit home.’ The technique used to promote the capital, Panem, is something that has been used in society. Government released propaganda messages used to manipulate civilians.
The one minute clip features President Snow and Peeta dressed in all white, sending out a “friendly” reminder message to the districts. The “Official Panem Address” stresses the importance of remaining as one.
President Snow’s address starts out on a kind note, reminding the districts of how far that they have come.
“Since the dark days our great nation has only known peace. Ours is an elegant system, conceived to nourish and protect.”
Fans of the series know President Snow is willing to do whatever it takes to win the war, and ensure that the people continue to follow his rules. He even went as far as capturing Peeta to use as a prop in his propaganda scheme.
“Your work feeds us and in return, we feed and protect you,” Snow states.
However, his encouraging words quickly turn threatening.
“If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed,” he promises.
