You made that New Year’s Resolution to go to the gym. Perhaps you made an attempt once or twice, but now you’re finding yourself slipping back into last year’s lazy schedule. Going to the gym isn’t easy, even if you want to lose those extra pounds you picked up over the holidays. Here are some tips to keep yourself motivated.

Audio-books are great because they tell a story without you having to sit down and read. Listening to an audio-book while working out is a great option because your mind can get caught up in the story. If you tell yourself that you can only listen to it at the gym, you may feel motivated to go there more often to find out what happens next. It’s a great way to work out and stay entertained.

2. Find a work-out friend

Have someone who expects to go to the gym with you. Knowing that someone else is going can motivate you to go as well. Work it into your schedule, and suddenly you’ll be spending more time together and getting exercise.
3. Keep tally

Every time you go to the gym, make a note of it in your phone. Give yourself rewards for each time you reach a tally mark. If you went to the gym five times, go see that movie you wanted to. If you went a hundred times, get those concert tickets. Rewarding yourself for going to the gym allows you to be healthy and still get what you want.

The key to getting a New Year’s Resolution to stick is repetition. However you convince yourself to go to the gym, make sure it’s consistent. You’ll be a pro before you know it.
