Gigi Hadid has just hit a milestone in her career: this month, she is featured for the first time on the cover of American Vogue. While Hadid has been featured on the covers for Vogue Paris, Vogue Australia, Vogue Italia, Vogue Netherlands and British Vogue, this is the first time she will be the main feature of the magazine’s stateside edition.

The 21-year-old beauty is featured alongside Olympic gold medalist Ashton Eaton, who will be competing this month in Brazil. Eaton will be competing in the decathlon, and if he wins, will have the honor of being called the world’s greatest athlete.

Gigi is no stranger to sports herself, stating on her Instagram,

“I couldn’t think of a cover I’d rather be on than the one celebrating athletics. Being an athlete has brought so much pride and joy to my life and has instilled the work ethic that drives me every day.”

The photo shoot involved Hadid and Eaton in a series of decathlon inspired poses, with Gigi impressively jumping in the Puma stilettos Rihanna designed. The interview with Vogue makes it clear that Gigi was very excited for the shoot with Eaton, eagerly handling the sporting equipment while Eaton looked on, offering tips on how to hold a javelin.

Hadid, of course, looks absolutely fantastic in the photographs. As the face of Donatella Versace’s current collection, Gigi wears a form-fitting black and blue Versace dress on the magazine’s cover, along with Ashton Eaton in Nike’s official U.S. Olympics uniform.

As always, Gigi is incredibly humble about her accomplishment, stating on her Instagram,

“An ultimate dream come true, I am beyond humbled. Shooting my first American @voguemagazine cover, in my hometown, was so surreal. And to be able to share it with Olympic Gold Medalist and my new friend #AshtonEaton is such an honor.”

She continued by thanking everyone at Vogue for “believing in me, teaching me, showing me the world, and being such a pleasure to work with.” She dedicated her success to her family and coaches, stating that she felt, “extremely blessed.”

Good work, Gigi!
