The Giorgio Armani Men’s RTW 2016 collection defined the new baggy trouser and oversized jackets. The collection’s powdery color palette is filled with shades of blues, greens, and pinks. Most looks being for the stand-out business man.
Armani decided to give a take on large trousers many in linen and some strapped in at the ankles. The wide pants are paired with unstructured jackets or fitting cardigans. Jackets came in many different styles, some in linen, others in a shadowy herringbone weave, seersucker or crinkly fabrics.
“This is male lightness,” Armani told WWD. Which explains his exciting silk pajama suits.
Armani used a bit of leather in his collection, but even the leather is light in colored jackets in a bomber style with a slight argyle pattern. He explains his fabric choices saying, “There was less of everything; we don’t need that much, little but well-chosen. Materials are much less synthetic, cotton mixed with silk.”
Since he went for the oversized look, there is no doubt that he also added a sweater to this collection. His oversized sweaters have different types of strips made from diamond shaped dots.
Spring 2016 has proven slouchy. This will be the new in-style for the 2016 season, and Giorgio Armani’s collection shows strong above the season’s baggy collections.
