Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2014-2015 campaign has been released and it is nothing less than intense. Gisele Bundchen, known for her gorgeous Brazilian features and flawless figure, is almost unrecognizable as the face of the campaign. The supermodel is featured in a black and white ad with super short hair and some killer thigh-high leather boots.
Bundchen is also the face of other ad campaigns this year, including Stuart Weitzman, Emlio Pucci and Isabel Marant. The model is proving to be somewhat of a chameleon in the field.
This campaign, shot by Steven Klein, is dark and intense, featuring Bundchen looking serious and brooding. Alexander Wang, the French label’s artistic director tells Vogue, “This is how I see Gisele for Balenciaga; strong, powerful, mysterious. This season we worked with this idea of vanity, staged in a room filled with mirrors.”
In an interview with Style, the young designer elaborates that with this ad campaign, he wanted to “break the mold a little bit.” He aimed to embody the Balenciaga woman as someone who shows an “idea of empowerment,” as well as “confidence and strength.”
According to WWD, the ads are set to be released in beauty and fashion magazines this September, as well as online.
