I’m sure by now everyone has heard about the biggest trend sweeping across the fashion scene; eco-friendly clothing. Designers and brands from all over the nation have been trying to see who can be the most innovative so they can be on the top of the pact for this new way of making garments.
One new designer that is following this trend is Daniel Neeson. Yes, the son of famous actor Liam Neeson has decided to give fashion design a go. Daniel has been designing his eco-friendly brand, Pine Outfitter, for almost two years now. He launched his first pop-up shop in N.Y.C that started on July 13 and went until July 19.
Not only does Neeson want his new line to look good, but he also wants it to do good. Every time a piece was sold at this pop-up shop, the National Forest Foundation planted a tree! This way not only is he helping people look better than ever, he is also helping the environment look its best.
Not impressed yet? Well how about the fact the Liam’s son is still only a junior in college! At his school he is studying digital media and theater and said that fashion is something he never imagined getting involved in.
Growing up, Daniel was a huge athlete. He grew up playing all different sports including hockey, soccer, football, and tennis. His dream job as a child was being a professional hockey player or being a producer in the entertainment industry.
Then one day to his surprise, he came up with this amazing idea to start his own brand while daydreaming in class. His first thought that led him to being a designer was because of the hat he was wearing. He thought how amazing it would be to have a hat line but did not know of a way to make it truly happens.
As far as the name of his line goes, he came up with Pine Outfitters because it combines his apparel brand with his love of nature. He loves the simplicity and meaning behind the name.
Since he had never worked much in the fashion industry and had no background knowledge, he enlisted the help of a friend from L.A. His friend had his own clothing line and helped Neeson learn the ins and outs of the fashion industry.
His muse for starting the line, his infamous hat, is still the lines main product. As he began getting more into fashion he designed to branch out into selling shirts, sweatpants and sweaters. He wants the style of his line to be a mix between Lululemon and Burton; fun garments that still have a classy feel.
Dad, Liam Neeson, has been extremely supportive of his son throughout the entire process. Daniel said he even goes to his father for different styling advice.
Even if his line produces a lot of success in the style realm, his main goal still his to give back to the environment. He wants his customers to learn to not only appreciate the material things in life but also be able to experience life around us.
Daniel eventually wants to launch the collection online, add more pop-up locations and try to visit colleges across the United States to help other entrepreneurs follow their dreams.
And you thought just taking college classes was hard? Hats off to Neeson for balancing school while running his own business. He shows that you can achieve anything as long as you work hard and set your mind to it.
