‘Godzilla’ Reigns Supreme in Japanese Box Office Debut

‘Godzilla’ made its debut in the home of the original movie this weekend. Well, it was well received in Japan if the amount of money the movie made there is any indication of that. It’s been reported that the gross for the movie this weekend was $6.9 million. This is huge, considering that another popular movie ‘Pacific Rim’ only made $14.5 million in that country alone. ‘Godzilla’ is already a huge success worldwide, considering that it’s made $498.3 million worldwide so far. That is amount is bound to increase if its debut in Japan is already starting out this strongly. It was announced at Comic-Con this week by Legendary that there will be a ‘Godzilla’ sequel. There will not only be more destruction, but will also feature new monsters: Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah, which are all recognized fictional monsters from the Japanese Godzilla series. The sequel has been slated for release on December 16, 2016.
