Grief in the Fashion World; L’Wren Scott’s ashes split between family

Grief in the Fashion World; RIP L’Wren Scott

L’Wren Scott, the highly esteemed fashion designer, and long time girlfriend of Rolling Stones’ musician Mick Jagger, was found dead by her assistant, in her apartment at approximately 10:00 AM on Monday, March 17th, 2014. Despite the fact that there was no suicide note found, Scott she was found with a scarf around her neck that was tied to a doorknob. The medical examiner ruled the death a suicide by hanging.

“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way”, the Stones’ frontman says in a tribute to her on his website. The two were together 12 years, and he, along with the rest of Scott’s family and friends, cannot understand what drew the designer to such a drastic and abrupt decision.

While the ashes of her cremated body were split between her family, and Mick Jagger, her will, filed in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court, stated that all of her belongings, including her $9M estate, would all be left solely to Mick. Though Mick Jagger has been away on a world tour with the Rolling Stones’, the tour has been postponed to offer condolences to the rockstar, whose long time lover was only 49-years old.

In remembering her distinguished work, we’re able to show [courtesy of vogue] a special look at the kindness and grace with which she both lived and designed. L’Wren Scott gave the fashion world romance, a bold celebration of the female figure, and timeless, beautiful looks. Vogue began filming L’Wren Scott as she designed her first wedding dress in collaboration with milliner Stephen Jones for her good friend JoJo Cohen in January 2014,.  We hope you would enjoy a glance into her life. She will be missed.
