Hello beauty fans! Christmas is going to be here shortly and you know what that means: lots of holiday parties! Today I am going to teach you how to do a fun, festive, holiday look; so grab your favorite drink, settle in, and let’s talk beauty!
Some of my all time favorite colors to use for the holidays are cranberries, burgundies, chocolate browns, burnt oranges, and gold’s, with copious of amounts of glitter thrown in of course!
I always like to bring the glam, especially during the holidays, and this look is no exception! I even wore a beanie with my full glittery beat down, who says you can’t still be glamorous while rocking a beanie? Not this girl!
Today’s combo was inspired by the earthy tones that are indicative of fall and the holidays, with a pop of glitter to up the glam factor! This look was created using a combo of Makeup Geek (MG) and MAC shadows!
This look is actually a halo eye meaning we are putting darker shades in both the inner and outer corner. This look gives the appearance of a really round eye shape. You can still use the color combo we are using, but just do the darker shades in the outer corner instead of the inner corner if you want a more cat eye/almond shaped look.
How to Achieve the Look:
Step 1 Apply Eyeshadow Primer
Any eyeshadow primer will do, but you all know our favorites by now: MAC Prolongwear Paint Pots, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and Urban Decay Primer Potion. Just make sure to apply a primer before applying eyeshadow otherwise your eyeshadow will not stay put and you will end up with it underneath your eyes, raccoon eyes are cute but not as a makeup look!
Step 2 Apply Peach Smoothie
Using a MAC 224 or Sigma E40, swirl your brush in Peach Smoothie and tap off the excess. Then apply from the lower to upper crease in windshield wiper and circular motions, but do not bring the color up to the brow bone! Make sure to go all the way from inner to outer corner.
Step 3 Apply Soft Brown
Using a MAC 224, or Sigma E40, swirl your brush in Soft Brown and tap off the excess, then apply to the crease below the Peach Smoothie in windshield wiper and circular motions on both the inner and outer corner. Then go back over it with a clean blending brush to make sure there are no harsh lines. I like to use the Morphe M505 brush for this!
Step 4 Apply Saddle
Using a Sigma E25 or a MAC 217 brush, swirl your brush in Saddle and tap off the excess. Apply the color on the outer corner first in circular motions (bring it slightly in towards the center of the eye) then blend into the lower crease right under Soft Brown. Then, Taking a MAC 219 or any other pencil brush, apply Saddle on the inner ¼ of the eye. Using a Sigma E 25 or MAC 217 blend it inwards toward the center of the eye so we don’t have a harsh line, we want it blown out and diffused. Then go back over the crease ONLY with a clean blending brush making sure there are no harsh lines. This is the actual halo part of the look. It can be a little difficult at first to master, but just practice and you’ll get it!
Tip: Just make sure you do not put Saddle on the very center of your eyelid, we have other colors going there instead!
Step 5 Apply Bitten and Cherry Cola
Apply both shadows on top of Saddle using the same technique used in step 4 above. You can either mix Bitten and Cherry Cola together then apply, or just apply Bitten first then Cherry Cola over top (that is what I did).
Tip: To really pack these colors on, after using the 217 or the E25 go over it again with a dense blender brush like the Morphe M433. It applies the color really dense and dark! Then just blend out the edges more with an E25 or 217 after.
Step 6 Apply Glitter Adhesive and Glitter
Apply a small amount of Glitter Adhesive (I LOVE Too Faced’s Glitter Glue) on the center of the lid. Then using a MAC 242 brush take a small amount of the Gold Glitter and pat, do not swipe the glitter on the center of the eyelid. If you swipe it will fall all over your face, and once glitter gets all over the place it’s almost impossible to get it off!
Then taking your pencil brush apply a little more Bitten and Cherry Cola with your pencil brush to the inner and outer corner of the eyelid and then blend out with your E25 or 217.
Step 7 Smoke Out Lower Lash Line
Using a pencil brush swirl your brush in Saddle, tap off the excess, then run it back and forth on your lower lash line from outer to inner corner. Repeat with Bitten and Cherry Cola then blend out using your 217 or E25. We want it diffused, no harsh lines!
Step 8 Mascara or Falsies
Apply your favorite pair of false eyelashes to complete the look, or just mascara your naturals!
Step 9 Apply that Lipstick!
You can either do a nude or a burgundy. I opted for burgundy since I wanted it dramatic! I used a MAC lip liner in the shade Burgundy paired with the lipstick Dark Room from Melt Cosmetics!
Note:
I did not use eyeliner for this look since it is a halo eye. If you use eyeliner, it will cover up the pretty sparkles we have in the center of the eyelid, and the eyeliner will give it a more cat eye feel than a halo look.
