Holly Madison Releasing Tell-All About Dark Times in the Playboy Mansion

Do you remember The Girls Next Door?  You know, the show that followed the antics of Holly Madison, Kendra Wilkinson, and Bridget Marquardt — the girlfriend trio of Hugh Hefner. The show depicted a fantasy lifestyle as the group frolicked around the mansion and jet-set to exotic locations.

For Holly Madison, Hef’s main squeeze at the time, it was anything but a fantasy. She reveals that her time spent at the mansion was actually a dark period in her life in her tell- all book Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny

In their latest issue US Weekly published experts from the book that hits the shelves June 23.

Madison recalls the first time she had ever met Hef was at a night club back in August 2001, she was 21-years-old. He had offered her Qualudes which he refereed to as “thigh openers.” Madison rejected the drugs, but admits that she spent that night at mansion.

A few weeks later she moved in. Her time at the mansion consisted of depression, emotional and verbal abuse followed by substance abuse. The Washington Post reported that the model considered suicide. She said

“Maybe it was the pot and the alcohol, but drowning myself seemed like the logical way to escape the ridiculous life I was leading.” She felt that Hef would just brush her death it under a rug and that he looked at her as “just another blonde.” She thought Bridget would be the only one who would miss her.

Hef attempted to get her to stay by adding her to his will. She told Us Weekly

“The will stated that $3,000,000 would be bestowed to Holly Madison at the time of his death (provided I still lived in the Mansion). At the time, it was more money than I’d ever know what to do with… But I didn’t want it. I actually pitied him for stooping to that level. I couldn’t help but be offended. Did he really think he could buy me? I put the folder back on the bed just as I had found it and never breathed a word of it.”

Madison is now married to Pasquale Rotella, and it the mother of a 2-year-old girl named Rainbow. She hopes that her daughter will read the memoir one day to keep her from making similar choices.
