How to Host a Great Summer BBQ

When it comes to hosting a great summer BBQ, there are a few essentials.

People: If you’re going to have a BBQ, it’s more fun if a lot of people are there. Invite a ton of your friends and family for a day barbecue. Make sure that no one you invite has conflict or tension with each other. Drama is not on the party list!

Food: What is a BBQ without hamburgers and hot dogs? Mix it up and don’t forget your vegetarian friends! Trying different foods on the grill will get your friends talking, plus it’s fun to try new things. Try vegetable ka-bobs, grilled veggies in sauce, corn on the cob or even a veggie burgers.

Drinks: Make sure to have a variety of cold beer in your coolers. For friends who don’t drink, or are planning on driving, it’s good to have diet sodas or tea and lemonade as an option.

Music: Make sure to make a fun playlist to blast from the iPod on the speakers in the backyard. Make a mix of different genres to please everybody who likes different music. Add some country and some rap. Change up the tone to keep it fun.

Bug Spray: It’s all fun and games until you spend the next day scratching twelve new bug bites. Mosquitos are nasty little things, so don’t forget the spray! If you’re planning on having a lot of gatherings in your backyard this summer, it may be a good idea to invest in the insect repellent lights or candles.

Games: To get everyone hanging out and laughing, rather than just eating a burger by themselves, play some games! Set up a badminton net in the front yard, get a dart game going or just toss a  frisbee around!
