The Independent Handbag Designer Awards are teaming up with Evine Live to feature current and past winners of the award.
The 40 finalists have been chosen for 2015, which marks the 9th annual award ceremony of the designer bag competition.
They have eight different categories ranging from best bag created with a sewing machine, to successful line created while the creator was still a student.
Each category has a different award based on the category. Such as an apprenticeship, sewing machine and having their design sold online.
There were 13 judges for this contest: Colin McDonald, from the brand developer company Colin T. McDonald Agency, Nancy Forman owner and operator of The Accessory think Tank, Lolita Alford who is a social media expert, Emma Grady who is a personal stylist and fashion writer, Lois Sakany who is one of the founding editors of Highsnobette.com, an editor from TheSnobette, Samia Grand Pierre and style and beauty expert Celia San Miguel.
TV Personality Dawn Del Russo will also be a judge, as well as Pamela Pekerman who is a fashion and lifestyle expert, beauty expert on social media Grace Gold, found of StylingOn Lidia Z., college graduate in the field of fashion Adirana Marie Quaranto and last but not least TV personality Carey Reilly.
The handbags are reviewed by numerous people in the industry who will scrutinize the bag to determine which is most well deserving of the award in their submitted category.
People were able to submit their handbags and compete for recognition worldwide.
An event will be held on June 17th in New York City at the SVA Theatre.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, “finalists from the U.S. include Ellia Wang, Mandy Chang and Carmen Chen Wu. Overseas finalists include Alexa Jay by Indred Jakumaite from the U.K. and Carla Lopez by Emilia Arzua and Carla Lopez of Spain.”
Evine and the Independent Handbag Designer Awards are teaming up to create a one hour show in honor of Evine’s “Fashion Day” They will have a show in February 2015
Evine Live is an online retailer who features unique designers.

Social media will become a major role in the advertisement of the new handbags.
Evine comes into play as it will allow the winners to re-create their designs to fit a more affordable price point for their shoppers, because the websites prides themselves on great quality and a reasonable price.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, “L & Leung Group will manufacture the reimagined bags.”
These bags will then be available on Handbagdesigner101.com. This website currently has bags from designers such as Mondrina Jezebel for $175, and Vintage Chanel bags for $2,400.
The redesigned bag will be sold for under $200.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, David Miller, Evine’s vice president of fashion, said, “New Products and concepts drive our digital commerce business model and this opportunity will provide us direct access to handbag designers from all over the world.”
This will also provide opportunities that independent designers may not normally have in their field. Other handbag designers and award winners will make an appearance such as Rebecca Minkoff and Katherine Kwei.
