For their Resort 2015 Collection, Balmain takes ultra chic tourist travel into tribal territory. The collection also includes a nautical edge, which provides poise to the sexier pieces.
From military inspired double-breasted jackets, to slouchy 70’s flared pants and serious bandage dresses, Balmain has created a collection that includes every necessary element for successful Resort clothing. The looks mostly veer toward night and club wear, and are certainly designed for the younger ages, but overall the ensembles draw enough positive attention to overlook the restrictive aspects.
Beginning with the palette, Balmain takes a risk and ignores pastels and excessive teal and navy. There is color, but black, yellow, white and bright, deep, pink are the standout shades. Patterns feature strong lines and diagonals, with a tribal influence. Shoulders and chest are the body parts most emphasized in this collection. Shoulders are either revealed completely by thin straps, or displayed through strong jackets, gladiator inspired dresses, or loud patterns. The chest is bared with plunging v-necks pushed even more extreme with triangle shapes descending downward.
The trend Balmain appears to strive for is a merge between wild tribal beauty and structured gladiator woman. The combined effect is of a liberated Roman goddess, living in total luxury.
