James Franco Goes Bleach Blonde

Actor James Franco, 36, debuted his new, bleach blonde hair via Instagram on Monday, August 11th. Franco paired the picture of his peroxide locks with the caption, “That Late 90’s Bleached Look.”

Franco is currently playing Michael Glatze, an ex-gay activist, for a new film. He will be attending the Venice Film Festival with his new ‘do where he will accept a filmmaking award just before the screening of his new movie, “The Sound and the Fury,” on September 5th.

Alberto Barbera, the director of the Venice Film Festival, praised the actor’s talent saying: “[He] is one of the most versatile and multi-talented auteurs on the current American scene, as an actor in cinema and theatre, director, screenwriter, producer, soap-opera star, video-artist and much more – indeed, a relentless ‘manufacturer’ of cultural imagery.”

It remains unclear whether this dramatic hair change is for a new role or simply Franco’s own style play. Nonetheless, the internet is buzzing with comments about the Instagram picture. Most notably, and accurately, Franco is being compared to 90’s boy bands.
