As H&M prepares for the opening of it’s largest store worldwide on July 17, Jeff Koons is anxiously awaiting the public’s reaction to his new corporate fashion deal. The Swedish brand called on Koons recently, wanting to collaborate with him for the new store opening in Manhattan. The American artist is set to work his magic for the flagship store’s merchandise as well as its façade.
“The partnership with H&M was really exciting for me and the chance to showcase one of my most popular works to a new generation of people was inspiring. H&M delivers great fashion season after season and it’s nice to see my work at their new store,” said Koons, according to WLOX.
Koons undoubtedly has an ample amount of space for his ‘studio.’ WLOX reported that the new building is a whopping 57,000 square feet and five floors tall. It is also the first H&M store to use the work of a contemporary artist to showcase a mix of art and fashion. Koons’s celebrated balloon dog bag will also be sold for $49.95 as a special edition in the New York, Dallas and Los Angeles locations, as well as online. The balloon dog sculpture will also cover the whole storefront with the saying, “Fashion Loves Art.” This new store flair is sure to bring in an innovative crowd and give H&M a refreshing reputation.
“It is such an honor to have the vision of this prolific and world renowned artist on display and as the storefront facade of the new H&M Fifth Avenue,” said Daniel Kulle, U.S. President of H&M.
The store is located at 589 5th Avenue, New York, New York 1001. It will be open Sunday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
