Jennifer Lawrence has done it again! She is officially the highest paid actress for the second time in a row. The Hunger Games actress topped the annual ranking with her $46-million-dollar income for this year alone. Compared to last year, her pre-tax income amount was only down $6 million dollars, meaning she actually made more last year for her acting and even with the small revenue loss, she still is the queen on top of the Hollywood empire.
In The Hunger Game franchise, the actress was installed a primary income before the release of Mockingjay part 2 and when the film earned over $653 million dollars worldwide, she got a hefty paycheck. Lawrence also asked for a high advanced pay in the new space adventure film Passengers, which she is set to star next to actor Chris Pratt.
Jennifer Lawrence, at the age of 26, was rated at second place on the highest paid actress list in 2014. At the time, she was one of the youngest actresses on the highest paid actress list.
This year, Melissa McCarthy was second place to Lawrence with her $33-million-dollar yearly income. McCarthy although has been called the biggest dollar gainer over a year to year basis since she earned an extra 10 million this year. McCarthy is turning 46 this coming week and surprisingly has earned more than 31-year-old actress Scarlet Johansson, who was ranked third this year for the highest paid actress list at $25 million dollars.
Melissa McCarthy has reportedly earned over 14 million dollars for her role in the all-female casted Ghostbusters reboot film. Scarlet Johansson, on the other hand, has had a 30% drop in her yearly income since 2015. Although she is expected to land a $17.5-million-dollar deal to be a part of the new Japanese adaptation of popular manga series Ghost in the Shell.
The world’s top ten highest-paid actresses have earned a collective $205 million dollars from June 2015 through June 2016 without the deduction of fees and taxes. This year the top four highest paid actresses have earned over $20 million dollars, which from last year only had three of the highest paying actresses earning over 20 million yearly.
There has been a newcomer on the list named Deepika Padukone, who is a popular Bollywood star that has now become one of the highest paying actresses in the world. While in the meantime, experienced actress Charlize Theron has rejoined the highest paid actresses list for the first time in the last three years.
The list contains Jennifer Aniston is number four of the highest paid actresses, earning $21 million dollars this year. Charlize Theron is number six on the list with 16. 5 million dollars and Amy Adams as number seven with a 13.5-million-dollar income. Surprisingly Julia Roberts is ranked number eight on the list with her $12-million-dollar income, since she hasn’t made too many movies since Money Monster. Number nine spot goes to Mila Kunis who earned $11 million this year and Bollywood actress Padukone earning $10 million dollars for her number ten spot.
