Ju-nna collaborates with Nissan Formula: The Nissan Formula E team and Japanese-British fashion label Ju-nna have teamed up in the lead-up to the March 30 Tokyo E-Prix.

For Nissan’s debut home race celebration, Ju-nna has designed unique kimonos influenced by each of the eleven Formula E teams competing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Nissan is the sole Japanese team on the Formula E grid.

Founder and fashion designer Jun Nakamura of Ju-nna expressed her excitement at being requested to make kimonos for Nissan, an iconic Japanese business, in a statement on the collaboration, saying: “The kimono is highly important to Japanese culture.

From an early age on, I was involved with kimonos. My father would wear one to work for our family’s kimono business. My goal in creating these kimonos was to draw inspiration from the team colors and the automobiles so that we could showcase Japan’s hospitality in this special collection.

The Tokyo E-Prix will feature a display of kimonos on race day.

Nissan Formula E team principal and managing director Tommaso Volpe said, “We’re proud to partner with such an exciting fashion designer like Jun to welcome our fellow teams in a truly authentic way.”

Since we are a Japanese team at our core, competing in our first race in Tokyo is a watershed event. Our confidence is strong after two podium finishes in a row, so we’re encouraging our rivals to relax—but not too much—at our home E-Prix.
