We’ve been scrolling through fashion blogs upon fashion blogs, and there is one trend reappearing that we can’t get enough of. It’s an especially popular summer choice, when skirts and dresses become easier to wear, due to unnecessary tights and leggings. The trend is this: casual meets dressy. How do we do it? How do we achieve such a delicate balance without looking sloppy, or silly, or just plain awkward?
The Sartorialist has photographed probably more than one hundred men and woman killing the casual-dressy look. They are, of course, mostly Italians who live in the land of effortlessly beautiful leather loafers, an easy option to make an otherwise simple outfit a little more special.

Or what about these women? Did they just pull different pieces out of their closets and have them magically create the perfect Wednesday afternoon coffee look?

The casual-dressy combination doesn’t seem to have a particular trick. None of the previous images have a single thread in common, however they all work because every individual featured has struck their personal balance between elegant and easy. The sneakers worn by the woman on the wall were the perfect accent to her otherwise flashier black skirt. The headphones on the woman in the fur coat added the necessary “chill” part to her outfit. Naturally, blazers, jeans, and loafers are always a good choice for a man.
Find your fancy, and then find the easy. It may take a few tries, but you will achieve the effortlessness you were looking for.
