K-Pop Musician 2NE1’s Song Used in Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Ad

K-pop is a global phenomenon thanks to Psy; however, he is not the only K-pop artist making waves in western mainstream media.

Microsoft recently teamed up with 2NE1, who is a girl group that’s on the same label as Psy, for a recent advertisement. They decided to use their hit song ‘I Am The Best’ in their most recent commercial for their Microsoft Surface Pro 3 product. This is a big deal because the song remains in Korean and 2NE1 is one of the biggest Korean musical acts with a huge global fan base. To put the popularity of the song into perspective, it has over 96 million views on YouTube.

It was a clever marketing tactic because the song is about how “They” or “I” is the best, using the repetitious chorus line “I am the Best” in Korean. Microsoft uses the song well to showcase how the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is better than the MacBook Air laptop.

Check out the commercial for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3.

There is a way. Buy whole TV seasons through iTunes. No commercials.

Agree with Jason. Horrible song. Makes me change the channel. Thought about buying a Surface Pro, but will not even consider it until they get rid of this piece of crap song.

Opinions are like a holes everyone has one and ignorance is bliss if a song can influence a purchase.

It doesn’t qualify as a “song.” It’s pure ear-piercing, mindless garbage with a beat made solely for dancing at a club somewhere. It certainly won’t be something people remember decades from now……..or even months from now.
