Kate Bosworth To Launch ‘Style Thief’ App

Actress, Kate Bosworth has come up with a genius iPhone app idea with co-owner of American Rag Cie and former president of Gemstar-TV Guide Interactive, Sam Russ. The fashion app, dubbed ‘Style Thief,’ allows users to take or upload a photo of an article of clothing to do an image search of the product and allow the searchers to buy the item directly.

For all diagnoses of style envy, Bosworth prescribes the “Snap & Steal” feature that allows both men and women to search for and buy coveted items they spot anywhere. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Bosworth says: “Everyone has fashion envy. Everyone can relate to that feeling of looking at an editorial, for example – or a friend, or the runway, for that matter – wanting to steal something exactly as you’re seeing it, or something similar.”

Currently in its beta stage, the app has accumulated options from over 300 retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Forever21 and Swell.com, to aid in the search for style. The app will generate revenue by receiving commission off the sales it pushes. To perfect the brilliant app, Bosworth’s husband, Michael Polish, has taken on the role as chief creative officer to polish the app’s graphics, set-up and overall design.

While ‘Style Thief’ competes with tech start-up apps of its kind, including ASAP54 and Styloot, Bosworth’s app differs because it can be used without connecting on a more interactive, social media level. The free app is an easy, quiet, one-step way to hunt down that seemingly impossible-to-find pair of shoes or that covetable dress. Showing off the app, Bosworth plans on wearing a red Valentino dress she found via the app to its launch on Wednesday, July 16, in West Hollywood.
