“The sky’s the limit,” says chief creative officer of Kate Spade, Deborah Lloyd to WWD, and they took that literally! Throughout the 2015 Resort collection, various famous aspects of well-known landmarks and simple sky-like designs were replicated throughout the many of the pieces of the collection.

A trip to Las Vegas brought the feathers of the its famous showgirls back onto a print on box-shaped dress, as well as trimmed the sleeves of a simple tee shirt. Some old favorites of the label were brought back, like its classic nylon bags, embellished with a crystals to give a more elegant look to the old favorite. Another show-like theme is seen in a white dress, adorned with clusters of jewels and crystals on both the very bottom of the dress, along with the neck line, while breaking apart throughout the body of the dress, resembling the lights of Vegas, as well as water droplets falling from the sky.

Other sky-like designs and patterns were seen on some of the pieces as well. Cloud prints were carefully placed on full dress and long, full, knee length skirts, lightly finished off with a final touch of simple glitter dusting. Just when you get intrigued and enthralled in the outer space theme, Lloyd comes back down to Earth on a hot air balloon, seen in a printed pattern of falling balloons on a collared Fifties style frock and simple long sleeve tunic.
