Is there anything better than re-watching Clueless over and over again on Netflix? If the classic film were to be developed into a musical, of course! This way many can not only binge watch the movie, but can replay the musical and the soundtrack too.
According to Glamour UK, the film’s director, Amy Heckerling, revealed that they were in the “really early” stages of developing the film for Broadway. As the book and song lyrics have already been created, the next step is to start casting.
Who will play the beloved part of Cher? Heckerling was thinking ‘Fancy’ singer, Iggy Azalea, or pop princess, Katy Perry.
“Katy Perry has expressed interest, and I love her to death,” she said.
However, the director has also told Vulture, “Perry’s intense schedule could create a conflict.”
It looks like at this point, casting would be determined by which star wants the role more. If Perry was seriously interested, she would make time for rehearsals and shows. However, Iggy is clearly interested in Clueless, seeing as her latest video for ‘Fancy’ copied the fashion featured in the film, recreating certain scenes from the 1995 movie.
This Broadway show is sure to be a hit with either singer as the star of the show.
