Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Oprah Winfrey Channel Iconic Characters in ‘Harper’s Bazaar’

Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, and Oprah Winfrey could easily been seen as iconic women of this generation, but for the September issue of Harpar’s Bazaar, these three women posed as iconic characters from the past. Perry, Carey, and Winfrey were transformed into icons of past generations by Carine Roitfeld and Jean-Paul Goude.

Katy Perry posed as Elizabeth Taylor while holding shredded pieces of a Andy Warhol picture over parts of her face.

About Elizabeth Taylor, Perry said,

“An icon transcends time. Liz was so fabulous and decadent and had a style that evolved with the years…and I’m sure I’ll be married just as many times!”

Next, we have Mariah Carey posing as Marie Antoinette in a elaborate French outfit on Fragonard’s swing. Carey stated, “I’m pretty much the opposite of Marie Antoinette, but it’s always fun to throw on a costume!”

Last, but definitely not least, Oprah Winfrey channels in her inner ‘Good Witch’ while posing as Glinda the Good Witch from the 1939 original Wizard of Oz.

The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite spiritual tales,” Winfrey said of her character, “and Glinda is a spiritual goddess. I love when she says to Dorothy, ‘You’ve always had the power.’ That is the message for all of us: You’re born with it, you always have it. It doesn’t matter how many yellow brick roads you go down, it’s always right there in your heart.”
