Pop artist Katy Perry, 29, has released her new summer song entitled, “This is How We Do.” The wacky video was released on July 31st and features Perry in retro outfits as she dances to her playful jingle.
In the beginning of the video, Perry is seen as the subject of an artwork. She then promptly turns to the camera and sings out as her lively, bright self. At this point, she is wearing a lemon-yellow outfit but then quickly transitions into a pong-ready ensemble that glows in the dark with the backdrop.
Eventually, Perry is in a luxurious bubble bath sporting an oversized, pearl necklace. She also wears teased hair, glamorous heart-shaped sunglasses, a leather art deco dress, and other eccentric looks. Dancing ice cream cones are featured as well, one of which even twerks for the camera.
The music video and song are all about having fun and relaxing, as evidenced by the lyrics: “This is how we do, yeah, chilling, laid back/ Straight stuntin’ yea we do it like that.”
The video is shot in a colorful studio as Perry continuously acts out the lyrics to the party jam. She even makes pancakes, plays ping-pong, and shops for Chanel purses. The video demonstrates Perry’s promotion of mixing pampering and partying.
Pop-art, dancing, enormous tacos, 90’s looks, and men wearing red bow-ties certainly makes for a classic, and wonderful, Katy Perry music video.
