If the brand Lacoste was mentioned in a word association game, the first two things to pop into your head would be crocodile and polo shirt. Haute couture wouldn’t be on that list, but that is about to change.

Creative Director Felipe Oliveira Baptista teamed up with embroiderer extraordinaire Maison Lesage to take the brand beyond the tennis court- And straight to video games?

The new designers include a Pac Man scene featuring tennis balls, cartoon crocodiles, and “Rene Did it First” graffiti tags. While all these details seem random, they actually hold true to the brand’s history.

Back in 1926 Jean Rene Lacoste was ranked the number one tennis player in the world. The player, nicknamed “the crocodile,” did something way bigger then that. He made the collared tennis shirt happen.

Vogue reported the line has 4 limited edition shirt with the signature crocodile embroidery on the collar instead of the shirt-scandalous! If you must have one of theses limited edition gems you can purchase online or at the Madison Ave. store beginning July 25.
