Orange is the New Black star, Laverne Cox, was finally able to meet fellow transgender woman Caitlyn Jenner. At an advanced screening of Jenner’s transition docu-series “I Am Cait,” Cox and Jenner got together for a picture where Cox captioned: “@caitlynjenner and I finally met in person at a special private advance screening of #IAmCait. #TransIsBeautiful #girlslikeus.” Cox also posted a photo with other trans women who were at the screening, including Candis Cayne who was the first actress to land a major role as a transgender character in primetime television –making history in 2007.
This isn’t the first time Cox has been standing behind Caitlyn Jenner and her transition. On Jenner, Cox told Entertainment Weekly’s LGBT issue,
“Her authenticity, her vulnerability is beautiful. Her love of family is so beautiful. Caitlyn is dynamic and has a sense of purpose and vision.”
Also, recently with Jenner winning the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 EPSY’s, Cox posted a photo of Jenner at the event next to her quote, “If you want to call me names, make jokes, doubt my intentions, go ahead. Because the reality is… I can take it. But for the thousands of kids out there coming to terms with who they are, they shouldn’t have to take it.” Cox captioned this photo with,
“Love this. Go Caitlyn. #TransIsBeautiful”
