London’s fashion week presented 24 designers and included 54 runway shows establishing itself as one of the forefront leaders in the world of fashion. And without a doubt it has created pieces/collections that are establishing themselves as innovative and diverse.
Another reason to give credit to the Brits this season, is the self-sustaining fashion project, created by the City council in 2006, began its 17th season. Estethica is a “sustainable fashion initiative”, and since its creation it has helped over 100 designers in 20 countries. This week, over the span five days, 11 of its top designers presented their lines, in the Estethica Showroom, situated in the West Wing of the House of Somerset.
Moving right along to the trends!
Some dominating motifs spotted on the runways this season were asymmetrical hemlines, floras and pleats.
The House of Holland created a 3D floral print dress. Erdem presented a similar look in a top with blue feathers protruding on the sides. Many designers went for exaggerated looks. This included silhouettes and BOWS! Yup, there were some huge waistline Bows strutting the runway this week. The designers that played with this feminine look were Jean-Pierre-Braganza, Burberry Prorsum and Jonathan Saunders.

On a different note, designers like Paul Smith and Eudon Choi played with a mix of both feminine and masculine styles by using a little bit of both in their silhouettes; presenting a long over exaggerated vest and underneath a dress.

Take off your heels, your feet can rest now. The runways have been put to rest; at least for now!
