Looking at Life Through the Eyes of Your Camera Lens

Photography is an art. While people everywhere enjoy taking pictures to capture birthdays and special moments, there are those specific creative minds who use photography to explore the world. From Canon to Nikon (go Canon) to your iPhone5s to your grandmas disposable, there are more ways to capture a moment with a photo than there are Free People sweaters hanging in your closet (a difficult feat). But what makes photography so special?

Dorothea Lange understood perfectly when she said, “Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still”. A photographer captures specific moments in time. From candids to still-lifes, every photo has a story to tell. Looking at photographs is similar to seeing the world through a different set of eyes, and as a photographer the moments you choose to capture say something about you and your own experiences.

Taking pictures is almost like writing in a diary. You’re vowing to remember specific details of your life. From the moment your BFF blew out her 21st birthday cake candles to the day your dog passed away, photos (just like a journal) will allow these monumental moments to live in your heart forever.

So express yourself. Show everyone how you view the world, and show them how very vast it can be. Whip out your camera (again preferably a Canon), and capture those small, seemingly insignificant moments in time, and make them significant. Catch a genuine smile or a moment of happiness. Inspiration is all around you, just waiting to be found. It’s time to get creative. Look at life with wide eyes, through the lens of your camera.
