Adele Exarchopoulos, Charlotte Gainbourg, Brit Marling,and Carine Roitfeild were some of the honorable guest among many others in the Louis Vuitton Resort runway showcase. The show was Nicholas Ghesguiere second collection for Louis Vuittion. Ghesguiere was the designer for Balengcia and this resort line pays homage to his scuba/ surfer look that he did in 1997-2012. Resort wear has gained some serious popularity in recent years. Resort wear used to cater to a niche, usually resort/ cruise wears was the preview line and acted as an intermittent period for the traditional fall/ winter spring/summer collections. Now with the growing numbers of affluent individuals in the south, resort wear went from niche to mainstream. Furthermore, resort wear now accounts for 80% of ready to wear sales.
Recently we have seen designers flexing their muscles with their lines, Dior in Brooklyn, Michael Kors in Shanghai, Chanel in Dubai, and now Louis Vuitton in Monaco. And Ghesguiere has certainly raised the bar mixing prints and colors together like a perfect marriage. Loud in your face print, with pastel colors and bright yellows, lace, and leather, could all scream disaster but Ghesgiere puts it together like a magician. We fell in  love  with the printed suits and the yellow leather bomber. And can we talk about shoes? The models wore a gladiator-esque shoe with loud prints pulling the look together and adding a balance. This maybe the most ambitious line seen out of the resort lines so far. Bravo LV!
