Low- to No-Cost Fashion Resolutions

If you’re looking to boost your style in 2017 and you’re still not sure how, there are a lot of ways to do it without replacing your entire wardrobe. Here are some fashion goals you can make without spending a fortune.

1.       Unleash your creative side with what you already own. Try looking at what you have from a reinventive instead of a purgatory angle. Make at least five outfits combinations you’ve never worn before. Combine tights with shorts and ankle booties, or mix complementary patterns, or wear heels with a T-shirt and jeans, et cetera.

2.       Discover your personal signature look. Do you love combining leather and lace? Is there a color you naturally gravitate toward? Do you look amazing in v-neck tees? Be conscious of your own style, and let yourself enjoy it. If your favorite piece in your wardrobe is your thigh-high boots, look for pieces that complement them when you shop and build on the style you already have.

3.       Try something new. Of course, you don’t have to stay tied to one style, and one thing can make a big difference. Sometimes it’s refreshing to wear something that you usually wouldn’t, to get a dramatic haircut, or to try false eyelashes. If there’s something you’ve been wanting to try but lacked the courage for, make this the year to just go for it. A lot of changes, like a new shade of lipstick, aren’t that expensive to implement but can refresh a routine that’s become boring.

4.       Be comfortable. Allow yourself to go out with your hair messy. Work out without worrying if your face is red. Skip your makeup routine and eat breakfast instead if you’re running late. Nobody can look like a fashion palette all the time, so don’t put that pressure on yourself. Remember that other people probably worry more about how they appear than they criticize how you do. Accept compliments, but don’t live for them. Let yourself like all your looks.

Here’s to the new year.
